BINGHAM UNIVERSITY SETS MODALITIES TO SOLVE FINANCIAL AND INFRASTRUCTURAL PROBLEMS FACING THE INSTITUTION


Since the establishment of Bingham University in 2006, it has been known to be operating below the standard or reputation ECWA- Evangelical church Winning All (owners of Bingham University) has built over the years through history in terms of infrastructural development, inadequate water supply, electricity and insecurity. These conditions lead to the major protest by the students in 2011. In a bid to tackle the challenges posed by the inadequacy of water supply, electricity and insecurity at Bingham University, the Executives of the Evangelical Church of Winning All (ECWA) has set out modalities to solve them by setting up  an Endowment Committee - ‘Apex committee’. This committee is placed with the responsibility of generating endowment funds by tasking individuals, organisations and other cooperate groups; and probably increasing the students’ fees.

This initiative was part of recommendations set forth by a visitation panel set up to investigate challenges facing the school after a 2011 protest by students over poor facilities. The panel also recommended that the Bingham's Governing Board Council and Board of Trustees be dissolved as they were found to be performing below expectations.

 Also, the panel found that students expelled on the basis of the protest had justified cause, but were faulted for not following due procedure; and there are ongoing discussions between the university and parents as well as the students involved.

The Endowment Committee took a tour through the University environs on 30th of May 2013 so as to see the current state of the University and then deduce the way forward.

The Students, Evangelical Church of Winning All (ECWA), and the world are hopefully waiting to see the new glory of Bingham University.
